Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother was an old backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was five, her father was appointed to the position of the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion curator. Her family later moved to the historic mansion. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan started singing as a contralto with the children's choirand shortly after, she was a part of the adult group. He was exposed to secular music but was initially minimal "I performed solos at churches and a person wanted me to be a part of gospel labels when I was 11 years old, but I wasn't ready to do that," she recalls. In the following year, McDonald's held a contest with children from large cities. I had the opportunity to perform "Accept the Grace of God" in the show Showtime At the Apollo. And the audience was very supportive. She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year thirteen. Sullivan was the first to sign her contract with Jive Records when she was 15. At the age of 15 she signed with Jive Records. The label recorded an whole album at Jive Records, however the album was never made available for release. Sullivan was eventually removed from the label. She maintained a working relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded a number of the tracks from her debut, such as the brash single "Backstabbers" that was written and produced by Timbaland and written by Elliott.
